Monthly Mindfulness Classes

These meetings are for those that have completed an 8 week Mindfulness course with myself.
It is an opportunity to support your ongoing Mindfulness practice and each month we focus on a different theme. We start with a Mindfulness practice, followed by a talk on the theme for the month and then there is time for questions and discussion.
These meetings are held on the second Monday of the month in Cork (Bru Columbanus, Cork) and the third Monday of the month in Clonmel (Clonmel Community Resource Center, Kickham Street).

There is no set charge for the night but it is offered in the spirit of “Dana” or generosity. This is an ancient practice whereby the teacher offers teachings or guidance out of generosity and those receiving them have the opportunity to show their generosity by giving a donation at the end of the night to cover whatever they feel needs to be covered.

This term we will focus on the basics of Mindfulness practice. Again and again it is important to come back to the basics of Mindfulness practice and really understand, from your own experience, that through a regular meditation/ mindfulness practice you are building a solid foundation so that when the storms of life hit, there is a steadiness deep within.

Being Nobody, Going Nowhere
A weekend of stillness

In the silence of this weekend you do not have to be anyone at all - no trying, striving or need to impress anyone, no need to prove anything, no comparisons or judgements, no competition! You can simply be just as you are with a gentle and kind spirit. This is of course not easy as we are habitually comparing ourselves to others, competing against ourselves, wanting to be someone, have an identity or improve something about ourselves. We often want to be seen as somebody so being nobody is not easy! The weekend practices will give you the chance to drop some identity and feel the freedom of this.
There is also nowhere to go for the weekend and nothing much to do! This is also a bit tricky as we are so used to doing things - filling time and feeling guilty if we are not. Practicing going nowhere is also not so easy!
In the supportive environment of this weekend, you will begin to see the possibility of greater freedom and ease as the self/ ego/ identity is not reinforced and fed quite so much. The freedom of simply being nobody and going nowhere may encourage you to keep practicing mindfulness.
Dates: Friday 8th to Sunday 10th November 2019
Time: Start with supper at 6.00 on Friday and finish at 3.00 Sunday.
Cost: 150 euro for bed and food and then there is the chance to offer a donation for teaching/ facilitation at the end.
Meals : Food will be vegetarian and if you have any specific dietary needs please let me know
Rooms: The rooms are all single with shared bathrooms.
What to bring: Warm clothes for outdoors - rain gear and outdoor shoes and whatever you need for your comfort.
